Detailed Description & Specifications
Container Desiccant Dry Bags
Container Desiccant Dry Bags are high-capacity cargo dehumidification systems designed to eliminate transit condensation, commonly referred to as "Container Rain" and "Cargo Sweat," during multimodal and ocean freight transit. Unlike traditional silica gel or clay desiccants that cap out at 25%–35% sorption capacity, container desiccants utilize an active anhydrous or dihydrate Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) salt blended with a high-purity modified starch gelling agent. This reactive matrix achieves an absorption capacity exceeding 300% of its dry weight.
As water vapor enters through a breathable, liquid-impermeable membrane, the hygroscopic calcium chloride extracts ambient moisture, initiating an irreversible 3-phase encapsulation process that converts the liquid brine into a leak-proof viscoelastic gel. Even when subjected to extreme temperature shifts, vessel vibration, and high ambient saturation, the entrapped gel will not weep, leak, or desorb moisture back into the cargo envelope. The product is 100% free of Dimethyl Fumarate (DMF), non-toxic, and compliant with EU REACH, RoHS 3, and US FDA indirect food-contact guidelines.
Structural, Membrane & Chemical Architecture
Suspension & Mechanical Fixation Layer
- High-tensile injection-molded PP hook (load rating > 15 kg)
- Direct insertion into recessed container wall corrugation grooves
- Vertical multi-pocket chain isolators for even load distribution
Bilayer Hybrid Encapsulation Architecture
Front: DuPont™ Tyvek® / Spunbond Non-Woven – microporous, one-way vapor-breathable, liquid-water and gel-impermeable barrier.
Back: Heavy-gauge co-extruded polyethylene (PE) film – 100% solid impermeable barrier against container wall friction.
Active Chemical Gelling Matrix (CaCl2 + Starch)
- Phase 1: Ambient vapor adsorption into high-purity CaCl2 granules
- Phase 2: Hydration and rapid deliquescence into liquid brine solution
- Phase 3: Polymeric starch cross-linking into a solid, irreversible gel
Key Features & Engineering Benefits
- Bilayer Barrier Containment: The front face of each pocket is fabricated from medical-grade DuPont™ Tyvek® or high-density microporous membrane that allows rapid water vapor ingress while providing a zero-permeability barrier against liquid-phase leakage. The back face consists of a tear-resistant, co-extruded polyethylene (PE) backing film that isolates moisture from container walls and prevents friction abrasion during sea swell.
- Irreversible Gel Locking Matrix: High-purity Calcium Chloride (CaCl2 ≥ 74%) draws vapor out of the airspace. Once liquefied, the salt brine is bound by modified food-grade starch polymers, locking the captured moisture into a rigid gel matrix that prevents re-evaporation even when daytime container temperatures reach 60°C–70°C.
- Multi-Chamber Vertical Isolation: Connected strip formats are divided into hermetically sealed individual compartments. Segmenting the media prevents the desiccant from slumping to the bottom, maintains consistent exposed surface area across the container wall height, and eliminates seam stress caused by hydrostatic head pressure.
- Structural Suspension Engineering: Equipped with a shatterproof, heavy-duty polypropylene (PP) hanging hook designed to fit into standard internal container lashing rings and corrugated ribs without encroaching on palletized cargo loading space.
